Issues related to the history of Latvia are in the focus of attention both in Latvia's bilateral co-operation and as part of functioning within international organisations. The foreign service of Latvia provides international partners with information on events in the history of Latvia, including the 20 century occupation regimes and their consequences. Latvia supports the initiative by former President of the European Parliament Dr Hans-Gert Poettering to open a House of European History museum devoted to European history, which is to become a venue where memories of Europe’s recent history would be kept thus promoting European integration. Since 2004, Latvia has been a member in the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research (ITF).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs actively co-operate with the Latvian National Historic Archives, the Latvian Historians' Commission, the National History Museum of Latvia, the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, the "Jews of Latvia" Museum, and the War Museum of Latvia.
