Transportation of animals to Latvia
- It is permitted to bring into the Republic of Latvia through the State (customs) border posts established for animal import, only clinically healthy dogs and cats from countries or their administrative territories:
- which are free from Rabies without any restrictions;
- those affected by Rabies:
- no Rabies cases are registered during the last 60 days within a radius of 10 km;
- dogs and cats shall be vaccinated against Rabies no later than 12 months and earlier than 30 days before they are brought into Latvia.
- Each animal brought into Latvia shall be accompanied with a veterinary certificate which shall contain confirmation that the Republic of Latvia requirements are complied with.
- The certificate shall contain results of clinical examination, animal dehelminization, treatment against ectoparasites and data concerning animal immunisation:
- dogs - against Rabies, Canine distemper, Infectious canine hepatitis and Canine parvoviral infection;
- cats - against Rabies and Infectious panleucopenia of cats.
- The certificate should be completed in Latvian or in any of the further mentioned languages: English, Russian.
- If animal is accompanied by its owner or a person authorised by the owner, then an international animal passport can serve as a document certifying animal health. In such cases veterinary certificate is not needed.
